Both Inter and Manchester City have now confirmed the transfer of Brazilian full-back Douglas Maicon to the English champions.

The Brazilian was stated as moving the Premier League champions yesterday by President Massimo Moratti and it has now been confirmed via a statement through both clubs’ respective websites.

“The 31-year-old, who arrived at Inter in 2006 from Monaco, Douglas Maicon has been overwhelming for the Nerazzurri, playing 249 times and scoring 20 goals,” read the posting on Inter’s site today.

“He leaves an indelible mark on Inter, who triumphed in Italy, in Europe and the world. Maic, as his teammates call him, to the public the Colossus, embarks on a new adventure that is like a return to those early days at Inter, as he joins Manchester City Coach Roberto Mancini.

“To both, from Inter, good luck from the heart.”

Manchester City have since also confirmed the news on their website, posting that the transfer fee between the two is undisclosed. Reports have it as being as low as £3m.
