Insigne: 'Am I Napoli's Messi?'

Lorenzo Insigne is ready for his first Serie A start playing for hometown club Napoli against Palermo. “Am I like Leo Messi? Let’s not exaggerate...”

The Under-21 international has earned comparisons with the Barcelona genius due to his pace, dribbling skills and diminutive stature.

With Goran Pandev suspended, Insigne is likely to start alongside Edinson Cavani this evening. Click here for a match preview.

“I thank Goran for comparing me to Messi, but let’s not exaggerate... It is better to avoid such comparisons. Messi is extraordinary, even if personally I still think the greatest player who ever lived was Diego Maradona,” he told La Repubblica.

“Zdenek Zeman helped me a great deal at Pescara last season and I grew enough to earn my chance at Napoli.

“I have always supported this club and would like to one day become a symbol of Napoli.”
