Roberto Mancini admits Manchester City turned down “four or five” offers for Mario Balotelli. “Not just from Italy, also from France.”

The 20-year-old Italy star impressed at Euro 2012 with three goals, including a sensational brace against Germany in the semi-final.

“There were four or five teams. Not just from Italy also from France,” said manager Mancini.

“Many important teams wanted him, but he's a top player and I never thought about saying yes to any of them.”

Milan were well known to have shown an interest in bringing Balotelli back to Serie A, while the most likely French option would’ve been Paris Saint-Germain, who went for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lucas Moura instead.

Cesare Prandelli put his faith in SuperMario and got the best out of the temperamental young forward.

“I hope he develops and he had a fantastic Euros, but I don't think he can change his behaviour because he played very well,” continued Mancini.

“It can help him because he may understand that he has all this quality, it's important for him to improve his behaviour around football.

“I hope the Euros can help him with that.”
