Croatian striker Igor Budan has paid tribute to Palermo in helping him deal with the loss of his second child Amber.
Speaking in the Corriere Del Mezzogiorno Budan the 32 year-old considered quitting the game after the shock, but returned in front of the Press to explain the ordeal he had gone through and to re-iterate his thanks and commitment to the Rosanero.

Speaking in the Corriere Del Mezzogiorno Budan the 32 year-old considered quitting the game after the shock, but returned in front of the Press to explain the ordeal he had gone through and to re-iterate his thanks and commitment to the Rosanero.
“It’s very difficult to put into words, but I thank everyone for their support. My family, the team, the President and his wife, and the fans have given me the strength and I don’t feel alone.
“My wife has helped me understand that we must move forward. It is written only as meningitis, but there was also a particular syndrome without a solution – a bacteria that decreases in the blood for which there is no vaccine.
“In Italy there are only 10 cases per year. It is a void that will be with me forever, but I find myself reacting.
“The Coach and the team understand and support me, but it will take a little time. If stopped I would have hurt many people, including my wife and our other daughter.”
Giuseppe Sannino will be watching Budan’s progress closely as by his own admission he almost quit the game.
“Now I would see this solution as a defeat. I train but I don’t have the adrenaline of the past. But, I want to think positively.”
Budan played for Croatia at Euro 2008 and has played for a number of Italian clubs since joining Venezia in 1999. He scored six goals for Palermo in Serie A last season, which was his best return since netting 13 for Parma in 2005-06.
