Mathieu Flamini sympathises with Robin Van Persie’s contract situation at Arsenal and advises his former teammate to take the best option for himself.

Van Persie is being heavily linked with a transfer this summer, with Manchester City and Juventus” data-scaytid=”5″>Juventus said to be the forerunners for his signature, after the Dutchman’s admittance that he would not be extending his Arsenal deal beyond next summer.

Flamini, who left the Gunners on a Bosman deal in 2008 to sign for Milan, believes that Van Persie must make the right decision for his career.

“He has a very complicated situation because he has to make a very important decision,” the French midfielder told Goal.com.

“He's a good friend of mine and I'm sure whatever he decides will be best for him and his family. I will support him in whatever he decides.

“Listen, it's important for him to be happy. Whatever choice he makes will be the best decision for him.”

Flamini signed a new one-year extension at Milan this summer and is optimistic that the club can advance forwards, despite a number of notable departures in the market.

“Milan are one of the biggest teams in the world. They are a club that have won everything and they will always be a huge club.

“It is going to be an important year for Milan and everyone wants to prove that we have the quality at the top level.

“I think it's very simple – If you play for Milan, you want to win everything. Juventus won the League going undefeated, we want to win it back.

“Everything is possible, especially when you see Chelsea winning the Champions League despite not finishing in the top three in their League.

“[Massimiliano Allegri] is very confident too. Of course, we lost two huge champions. Zlatan and Thiago are key players. But I am sure we have enough quality on this team to perform and to do well.

“We have enough quality to play for every cup. Starting with Serie A and the Champions League. Milan are a big team with big players. We have enough quality to play for every cup.”
