Marco Verratti has no regrets about turning his back on Italian football for a future with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old has never played in Serie A and completed a €12m move to PSG from Pescara earlier this month.
“I’m convinced that I have made the right decision,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “To play alongside these enormous champions is something that will be very useful – I’m learning a lot!
Verratti was wanted by Juventus and Napoli after being heralded as the ‘new Pirlo’ tag following his exploits in 2011-12.
“You need to have pressure when you play football and I’m happy to accept that responsibility,” continued the Italian Under-21 international.
“The fact that Paris SG wanted me shows that I can do well, even if I have to demonstrate my worth to the Coach first.”
