Atalanta defeated Udinese in a special friendly match organised in memory of Piermario Morosini.
The Trofeo Achille and Cesare Bortolotti had a special meaning this summer, as these two clubs represented the most important of Morosini’s career.
The midfielder died of an undiagnosed heart defect during a Serie B game while on loan at Livorno last season. Both sets of fans remembered Morosini with chants throughout the encounter.
Luis Muriel and German Denis had early opportunities in last night’s match, while Danilo required a goalline clearance to deny Maxi Moralez.
The decisive goal came five minutes from time when veteran Simone Tiribocchi got away from Andrea Coda to nod in a cross.
