Inter and Torino missed out on signing a young Lorenzo Insigne because he wasn’t tall enough.
Insigne, measuring 163cm, is one of the country’s most promising youngsters and has returned to Napoli this summer after loan spells at Foggia and Pescara.
“He wasn’t considered by Inter and Torino because they thought he was too small,” father Carmine Insigne noted.
“But he never gave up, his character reminds me of myself, and his dream was to always play for Napoli.
“Now I have asked him for a present – a goal in the Italian Super Cup Final against Juventus [on August 11 in Beijing].”
The attacker, born in Naples, was signed by his hometown club as a 14-year-old. He’s now an Italian Under-21 international.
