Pietro Lo Monaco is keen to raid his old club Catania and sign Pablo Barrientos for a second time, as the player stalls on a new contract.

Barrientos was first signed by Lo Monaco when the CEO was with the Sicilians and, after impressing last year for the team, finds himself the centre of transfer speculation.

This is because the club have yet to sign him to a new contract and with his current one expiring in June 2013, Catania are likely to sell him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Lo Monaco, who was understood in January to have had the opportunity to sign attacking midfielder Barrientos to a new deal with Catania, is now at Genoa as their CEO and is reportedly making moves to try and bring the Argentine to Marassi.
