Parma have insisted that it will be hard to replace Sebastian Giovinco in the side. “He’s the best player in Italy.”
Giovinco spent the last two campaigns at the Stadio Tardini, but he has re-joined Juventus after the Turin club bought Parma’s half share in him for €11m last month.
“Our team is weaker on paper without Giovinco,” Parma director general Pietro Leonardi noted on Wednesday. “Then we’ll see what Amauri and the rest can do…
“Even after selling him, I insist that Giovinco is the best player in Italy. I would have liked to have seen him play a bit more at Euro 2012 as he could have been decisive.”
The 25-year-old attacker scored 15 Serie A goals last season and made two substitute appearances for the Azzurri at the European Championship.
Leonardi also confirmed that the outfit are close to signing midfielder Marco Parolo from Cesena. “There are still a few details to sort out.”
