Sampdoria are set for an ambitious swoop to try and bring Inter’s Giampaolo Pazzini back to the club, according to reports.

Pazzini’s first full season at Inter was very disappointing as he scored just five times in Serie A, leading to suggestions that he could be part of this summer’s cull.

Sampdoria, upon their promotion to Serie A, would jump at the chance to re-sign the striker that they sold to Inter for €19m in January 2011.

Pazzini’s value has dramatically decreased so it is likely that Sampdoria would want to take their former player back on loan. In the hope that he rediscovers his scoring touch, Inter may be willing to listen to such a suggestion.

“For now Pazzini is with Inter,” said the Nerazzurri’s sporting director Marco Branca.

The club do not consider the 27-year-old untouchable and any offers for his services will be considered as Inter undergo a summer of change.
