Inter’s young Dutch attacker Luc Castaignos has confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer, probably in a permanent deal too.

The 19-year-old arrived at San Siro last summer with a reputation in his native country as a rising star, compared in playing style to Pierre Van Hooijdonk by his former club Feyenoord.

However, the youngster has struggled in Italy for playing time and, whilst it was assumed that he would be shipped out on loan this summer, he has now confirmed that any departure may be definite instead.

“[The club and I] have decided that I will be sold,” Castaignos told Sky Sport 24 on Tuesday.

“Inter wants to loan me to an Italian team, but I do not want this. In Italy I only want to play for Inter, so I have decided to move on.

“I left Holland only to play for Inter, but this is not looking possible now, so I will leave. Of course I am sad, but this is football and the club and I have made this decision.

“I regret not having been able to show my qualities. If I could change anything then I would decide to go out on loan abroad, but this will not happen.

“Feyenoord? I’m disappointed that it is not possible for me to play there next season.”
