David Trezeguet is sceptical that former Juventus teammate Alessandro Del Piero will join him at River Plate.

Tuttosport today claimed that the Argentine club had offered the departing Juventus captain a contract worth €1.5m a season.

Although the Frenchman didn’t totally rule out a switch to South America for the No 10, he did have his doubts.

“I’ve been in touch with him as we have been friends for a long time, but we didn’t discuss River Plate,” stated the centre-forward.

“I saw his interview in which he said he admired South American football, but we didn’t talk about that. He has my number and he can call me whenever he wants if he has any questions about the club.

“Given that I know him, I can say that his objectives are the same as what ours are over here, but we shouldn’t live with illusions…”

Trezeguet and Del Piero, who will leave Juventus after 19 years, were teammates in Turin for over a decade.

He’s also been linked with a switch to England or America.
