Catania defender Nicola Legrottaglie has saluted the impact made at the club by Fiorentina bound tactician Vincenzo Montella.
The veteran is particularly grateful to the outgoing Coach, having been on the verge of retiring to become a missionary last summer before Montella brought him to the Stadio Angelo Massimino. He went on to make 31 Serie A appearances and score five goals in the Rossoazzurri colours.
“I am sorry for his departure, we played a great season with him,” Legrottaglie told SportItalia. “I was aware, however, of Montella's desire to join a big club.”
Aged 35, the former Chievo, Juventus and Milan man is only two years the junior of Montella, whose move to Florence is expected to be signed and sealed this Saturday.
