Lazio’s fight for a Champions League qualification place has been boosted by the aniticpated return of Miroslav Klose to training.

The German international, the Aquile’s top scorer this season with 13 in Serie A, hasn’t played since the middle of March after he picked up a thigh strain during a training ground friendly.

Some reports during the striker’s subsequent recovery intimated that he would not return to action in time for the end of the season, with the suggestion that he was reluctant to risk missing out on representing his country at this summer’s European Championships.

However, Klose has denied this and, having seen him take part in a session with his teammates today, Lazio’s medical staff are reportedly set to give the 33-year-old the all clear to return to Edy Reja’s matchday squad for the weekend trip to Atalanta, albeit only for an anticipated spot on the bench.
