Dejan Savicevic has revealed that he advised Milan to sign Stevan Jovetic before he joined Fiorentina.

The Montenegro fantasista is one of Serie A’s most talented players after moving to the Viola in 2008 from Partizan Belgrade.

However, Savicevic, who spent six years at Milanello as a player, spotted Jo-Jo’s talent while he was still a teenager.

“Six years ago I advised director Ariedo Braida to buy him for Milan,” the President of the Montenegro FA told TMW. “He didn’t listen…”

Jovetic missed all of last season with injury, but his 14 goals in 27 League games this term are a major reason why the Viola look like they’ll survive the drop.

“He can play for any club in the world,” Savicevic continued. “He’s demonstrated some great quality, just think back to what he’s done over the years. Do you remember the game against Liverpool in the Champions League?

“We are talking about a great talent. His future will depend on what Fiorentina decide to do on the transfer market.”
