Manchester United are ready to offer Inter a fee of around €9m for goalkeeper Julio Cesar, says the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The custodian is one of the club’s highest earners given his €4.5m a season salary and he has a contract at San Siro until 2014.

The Nerazzurri are expected to try to lower the average age of the squad and the wage bill over the summer.

Cesar, now 32, has been linked with the Old Trafford outfit in the past and his future at San Siro is in doubt.

If the club do sell the Brazilian this summer, they have two options to replace him at the Stadio Meazza.

The first is to recall Emiliano Viviano from Palermo given that they have that option at the end of the season.

The other possibility is that they offer a half-share of the Italian to Udinese as part of a deal for Slovenian international Samir Handanovic.
