Cagliari have gone back on their threat to play the remaining home games in Trieste after a meeting with the Mayor.

President Massimo Cellino had pledged to quit the Stadio Sant’Elia in the latest chapter of a long legal battle between the club and local council.

Cagliari have so far refused to complete the reconstruction works in the venue, so parts of the stadium are closed down due to security fears.

Today there was a meeting between President Cellino and the Mayor of Cagliari Massimo Zedda.

“We thank the Mayor of Trieste for giving the offer of hospitality, but we are confident that will not be needed.”
