Francesco Guidolin believes Udinese deserved their point in Palermo, but admits he “got the first half team selection wrong.”

The Friulani were trailing for much of the game to a Fabrizio Miccoli strike, but Gabriel Torje struck late on in the 1-1 draw.

“In the first half we were very disappointing and if we hadn’t changed gear after the break then we’d never have equalised,” said the Coach.

“I think the second half performance was enough to deserve the draw. We are suffering from a little fatigue and are less sharp than usual due to the many matches we’ve been playing. We want to fight to the end in order to earn a place in Europe.”

Guidolin made a double substitution at half-time and admits he got it wrong at the Stadio Barbera.

“I do deserve a bit of a telling off. I was convinced that I’d fielded a good side in the first half, but I was wrong. Those who came off the bench brought a spark.

“Roberto Pereyra is a young player who needs to learn so much and still has to settle in, but he has quality. I have to compliment the club on finding this talent who can do great things here.

“Gabriel Torje is also growing and can give us a lot going into the future. This team perhaps lacks some maturity, as we don’t always get the results that we deserve.”
