Napoli have announced a new Dugout series, called Napoli – a Football City – on the history of the club, including interviews with players.

While the Juventus documentary series on Netflix was more of a behind the scenes affair during the course of a campaign, this looks more at the events that helped create the passionate support in the city itself.

The first episode is out today and is available to view on Dugout here.

“Dugout and SSC Napoli are delighted to announce the release of ‘Napoli – A Football City’, an exclusive documentary which explores the special link between Napoli, the club’s fans and the city of Naples,” read a statement.

“The five episodes in the series will take fans on a journey to understand why the city of Naples lives and breathes football every day, and how Napoli supporters express their passion and love for their team.

“The series will revisit the glory days of the first Scudetto, as well as the club’s long rebirth from Serie C all the way to their return to the Champions League.

“The first episode, which will focus on the club’s fans, will be available to view on www.dugout.com from Thursday 26 April, with following episodes released weekly every Thursday as follows: 

26 April – Napoli’s fans

3 May – Napoli’s first Scudetto (1986/87)

10 May – The city and the Neapolitans

17 May – The rebirth of SSC Napoli

24 May – Marek Hamsik: the Captain

31 May – Napoli – A Football City: full-length version

“This original series will include interviews with first-team players including Marek Hamsik, Christian Maggio and Luigi Sepe; Gianluca Grava, head of the youth football program; as well as two legends of the club: Luigi Caffarelli and Francesco Montervino.

“Dugout have spoken to famous fans of Napoli including TV star Caterina Balivo, writer Maurizio De Giovanni, San Paolo stadium announcer Daniele ‘Decibel’ Bellini, rapper Clementino and film-making group The Jackal, providing fans with a complete picture of the passion of the city for their team.”
